Thank you for volunteering to call on your state transportation department head to protect Transportation Enhancements.

States were mandated (through a “rescission order” issued by the Federal Highway Administration as directed by Congress) to return transportation funds by Friday, July 20, 2007. Many of you called your state DOT heads asking them to protect Transportation Enhancements (TE), the nation’s largest funding source for trails, walking and biking. We will notify you when results from this rescission order are available.

Here is a table detailing TE funds returned by state for 2006 and the first rescission order in March 2007. This comprehensive table includes results from all 2006 and 2007 rescissions (including the June 2007 rescission).

Although this particular rescission is completed, here is a list of contact information for each state DOT head for reference. Even in the absence of a specific action, expressing your opinions to decision makers is useful to convey the public’s interest and ensure accountability.

For more information, read up on Transportation Enhancements here.

Please tell your friends about our Rail-Trail Network so they can also be kept up-to-date and take action on these and other important issues. To do so, please copy and past this link in an e-mail to them:
