Overview

Oak Leaf Trail (kempro/TrailLink)

Since 1965 and the founding of America’s first rail-trail, the Elroy-Sparta, Wisconsin has helped lead America’s burgeoning rail-trail movement by putting walking and biking at the center of a famously high quality of life. In celebration of this legacy, and with an eye toward Wisconsin’s role as a cornerstone of a national trail network, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy is thrilled to feature the rich heritage of cycling in Wisconsin on the 2015 Trailblazer Site Tour.

Our small group will be joined by RTC President Keith Laughlin and members of our Board of Directors. Professional tour managers, Wilderness Voyagers, will support all logistical needs and encourage you to immerse in the natural beauty and rich trail culture of southeastern Wisconsin. Each day’s ride will feature local points of interest and project site visits. Join us and experience the beauty, connection, and vitality that trails are bringing to this growing region.

Our 2015 Trailblazer Site Tour will support the vision, coordination and resources being put forward by RTC and our partners on the Route of the Badger trail development project. Establishing a network linking urban, suburban and rural communities, the Route of the Badger will serve as a template for future regional trail development projects nationwide. Participants will have a VIP seat for conversations with prominent local, state and national bike/ped advocates and planners sharing ideas on the future of trails in Wisconsin and beyond.
